The best electric bikes on Amazon in 2026

Amazon's e-bike aisle is full of big numbers: 2,000 W peak motors, 85-mile ranges, 38 mph top speeds. The bikes that actually work for most people are the ones that pair a decent battery with good brakes, a fit that suits you and a motor that keeps them street-legal.

We rank every bike by our editor score, which weighs value most, then motor, battery, comfort and safety. Use the fit finder to check any pick against your trip, height and storage.

How to choose

Rated vs peak power

U.S. laws use rated (continuous) power, capped at 750 W. A '2,000 W' bike may still be rated 750 W — or may not publish it at all.

Battery in watt-hours

Multiply volts by amp-hours. 500 Wh covers most commutes; 700 Wh+ is for long rides or heavy riders.

Real-world range

Plan on about 60% of the 'up to' figure. Throttle use, hills and rider weight all cut range.

Brakes

Hydraulic discs stop harder with less effort than mechanical ones — worth it on heavy, fast bikes.

Certification

UL 2849 covers the whole electrical system and lowers fire risk. Some cities and buildings now require it.

Frequently asked questions

Are Amazon e-bikes any good?

The better ones are. Look for published rated power, a battery size in Wh, UL 2849 certification and a large review base, and budget for a professional tune-up after assembly.

How fast do e-bikes go?

Legally, Class 1 and 2 stop assisting at 20 mph and Class 3 at 28 mph. Bikes that claim 30+ mph are generally treated as mopeds.

How long does an e-bike battery last?

Typically 500–1,000 full charge cycles — several years for most riders. Store it partly charged and away from heat.
