Which e-bike fits your ride?

Answer seven quick questions. We check every e-bike against your terrain, real-world range, height, weight, storage, legality and budget — and tell you exactly why each one fits or doesn't.

1. Where will you ride most?
2. Longest round trip on one charge
16 mi

We assume you'll get about 60% of the brand's "up to" range — real riders use throttle, hills and headwind.

3. How tall are you?
4. Your weight (plus any cargo)
190 lb
5. Will you lift or carry it?
6. Street-legal as a Class 1–3 e-bike?
7. Budget

Real-world range

Brands quote range in the lowest assist level on flat ground. With throttle, hills, wind and a heavier rider, most owners get 50–70% of the claim. We plan on 60% and suggest a bike whose real range covers your whole round trip.

Street-legal classes

Most U.S. states recognize three e-bike classes, all capped at 750 W of rated motor power: Class 1 and 2 stop assisting at 20 mph, Class 3 at 28 mph. Bikes that go faster or carry bigger motors are often treated as mopeds. Local rules vary — check yours.

Fit and weight

20 in wheels suit riders from about 5'0" and fold; 26–27.5 in wheels roll better for taller riders. E-bikes weigh 45–95 lb, so if you'll carry it up stairs, every pound counts.
